YCA AssociateIñigo Toledo President Barracuda Yacht DesignIñigo Toledo (Madrid/Spain 1967) is a graduate from the Southampton Institute of Higher Education in Yacht Design. During his studies he did work at the German Frers Design office in Buenos Aires / Argentina and at the Reichel/Pugh office in San Diego / USA. Right after his studies he started his own company at the age of 22, Barracuda Yacht Design in Madrid / Spain, to serve a good number of potential customers and exiting projects.
First milestone was his participation in the 1992 America's Cup Challenge, with the first Spanish Team. His role as Software Designer, Project Manager, Design Production Manager and Structural Designer gave him the best possible basis at that time to continue with the normal activities of the new company. Then a number of designs for Spanish and foreign yards continued, ranging from production yachts to one-off constructions.
Another major project was his participation during the construction of "Fortuna" as project manager and Owners representative for the Spanish Royal Motoryacht. This 142' MY, with top speed 70 knots, is still the fastest motor yacht in her size. Again, one of the most demanding projects around to provide ultimate experience on a wide range of technical matters and management techniques.
Barracuda has been since then involved in one-off sailing yachts and motor yachts of bigger sizes as well as with a second America's Cup campaign, this time for Desafío Español Team, with Íñigo Toledo acting as Technical Co-ordinator, and getting best results ever for a Spanish participation.
